Welcome to the gardener's dictionary, in this section we list some of the various words and terms used in gardening.

We have split the dictionary into alphabetic sets, just click on the set that contains the letter that the term begins with.

Gardening is one of those topics that comes with its fair share of jargon. Whether it is dealing with soil structure, plant classification, life-cycles, and even digging the garden, you may come across unfamiliar terms and phrases which may need clarification.

We make frequent additions to our dictionary, and we hope to include many of the terms and phrases you may come across on our website and in other gardening literature.

A to C -- including Aeration, Alpine, Biennial, Broadcast, Chimaera and Cruciferae.

D to G -- including Deciduous, Epiphyte, Fastigiate, Fimbriate and Glabrous.

H to L -- including Herbaceous, Inflorescence, Keel, Lanceolate and Loam.

M to P -- including Monocotyledon, Nodule, Obovate, Pedicel, Peduncle and Pistil.

R to S -- including Raceme, Rhizome, Spadix, Stamen and Systemic.

T to W -- including Tendril, Transpiration, Umbel, Variegated and Whorl.
